‘At the Movies’ is theme of Nov. 19 scholarship
pageant Miss Central Pennsylvania and Miss
Greater Juniata Valley . LEWISTOWN
— Eighteen area women will vie for the title of Miss Central
Pennsylvania at the annual scholarship pageant slated for 7 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 19, at Lewistown High
School. Crowned will be Miss Central
Pennsylvania and Miss Greater Juniata Valley, who will then compete
in the state scholarship pageant in the
spring. This year’s contestants
are: • Jenna Collins, 19, is a
sophomore at Millersville University from Nazareth. She represents a
platform of “Bridging Generations: Supporting Our Older Americans”
and will perform a vocal number as a
talent. • Megan Nicole Wasson, 20, is a
junior at The Pennsylvania State University from Conneautville. Her
platform is “A Mother’s Promise Today for a Healthy Tomorrow:
Challenging Women to Seek Prenatal Care,” and she will perform a tap
dancing routine as her talent. • Natosha
Lynn Durr, 18, is senior at Everett Area High School from Everett.
Her platform is “Beauty in America’s Eyes: A Hidden Plague,” and she
will perform a monologue as her talent.
• Bethlene M. Pancoast, 23, is a graduate student at New York
University from Langhorne. Her platform is “Teen Task Force,” and
she will perform an a cappella tap dance routine as her
talent. • Amy Elizabeth Swonger, 20, is
a sophomore at Edinboro University from Saegertown. Her platform is
“Fighting for a Drug and Alcohol Free Nation,” and she will perform
a vocal routine as a talent. • Rachel E.
Henry, 21, is a junior at Millersville University from Hanover. Her
platform is “The Gift of Life - Organ and Tissue Donation,” and she
will perform a vocal number as her
talent. • Melanie Hildebrant, 20, is a
junior at Barnard College of Columbia University from Nazareth. Her
platform is “America’s Pride - Promoting Patriotism and Support for
Military Personnel and their Families,” and she will perform vocal
number as her talent. • Lauren Zumpino,
22, is a graduate student at Temple University from Feasterville.
Her platform is “YMCA Activate America,” and she will perform a
vocal number as her talent. • Typhani
Janelle Russo, 19, is a sophomore at The Pennsylvania State
University from Altoona. Her platform is “Animal Neglect and Abuse,”
and she will perform a vocal number as her
talent. • Alyssha Rose Jordan, 21, is a
sophomore at Harrisburg Area Community College from Harrisburg. Her
platform is “Disaster Relief,” and she will perform a vocal number
as her talent. • Brittny Lynne Sparrow,
21, is a junior a Muhlenberg College from Douglassville. Her
platform is “YES! - Youth Empowerment for Success,” and she will
perform a vocal number as her talent. •
Mallory Keith, 21, is a junior at Point Park University from
Altoona. Her platform is “Building Families Through Special Needs
Adoptions,” and she will perform a vocal number as her
talent. • Jessica Megliss, 21, is a
senior at the University of Pittsburgh from North Huntingdon. Her
platform is “Big Brothers/Big Sisters - Every Child Deserves a
Friend, Someone to Look Up To and Someone Who Cares,” and she will
perform a baton twirl as her talent.
• Amber Knauss, 23, is a graduate student at Lehigh University
from Emmaus. Her platform is “Mental Health Awareness, Education and
Prevention,” she will perform a vocal number as a
talent. • Heather Rose Miller, 22, is a
senior at The Pennsylvania State University from Holland. Her
platform is “Operation Community Allies,” and she will dance as her
talent. • Allyn Michelle Susko, 20, is a
junior at Dusquesne University Honors College from Windber. Her
platform is “Leadership 101: The Importance of Leadership
Education,” and she will play the piano as her
talent. • Megan Robinson, 22, is a
senior at the Kutztown University of Pennsylvania from Penndel. Her
platform is “Foreign Languages for Young Children,” and she will
perform a jazz dance routine as her
talent. • Dachia Williams, 21, is a
senior at the Pennsylvania State University from State College. Her
platform is “Teaching Children Healthy Living Throughout Life,” and
she will dance as her talent. “At the
Movies” is the theme for the 2006 Miss Central Pennsylvania
Scholarship Pageant. The master of
ceremonies is Rocco Pallotto of MERF Radio. Featured performers are
Miss Pennsylvania Nicole Brewer, Miss Central Pennsylvania Shannon
Doyle, Miss Greater Juniata Valley Mary Kaye Jacono, Kyle Metzger,
Chris Ruble and the Miss Central Pennsylvania
Princesses. Tickets are $15 for reserved
seats. General admission tickets for the balcony will be available
the night of the pageant for $10. Some balcony seats have an
obstructed view of the stage. Tickets are available by calling Ann
