Miss Central Pennsylvania Pageant Seeks Contestants

Lewistown, PA, -- The Miss Central Pennsylvania Scholarship Pageant will be accepting applications from contestants through November 17. Contestants must be unmarried young women between the ages of 17 and 24. In addition, they must reside, attend school or be employed in one of 25 Central Pennsylvania counties. If too many entries for the pageant are received contestants will be eliminated based on the date on which their applications were received with those received first gaining admission to the pageant and those received later being named as alternates. As a result it is important that prospective contestants submit their entry materials as soon as possible.

The Miss Central Pennsylvania Pageant, a preliminary to the Miss Pennsylvania Pageant will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2002, in the Lewistown Area High School in Lewistown. Again this year two titleholders, Miss Central Pennsylvania and Miss Greater Juniata Valley will be named.

Last year over $3000 in scholarships, prizes and awards were given to Miss Central Pennsylvania Jessica Watson, Miss Greater Juniata Valley Erika Shay and their runner-ups. Both titleholders won additional scholarship money as participants in the Miss Pennsylvania Pageant in June.

Contestants in the pageant are judged in talent, interview, evening wear and swimsuit. There are no entry fees or sponsorships required for entry into the pageant.

The pageant is sponsored by the non-profit Miss Central Pennsylvania Scholarship Organization. Scholarships and prizes are awarded through the generosity of businesses and organizations throughout the area.
