Miss Central Pennsylvania Pageant Seeks Contestants

Lewistown, PA, July 26 -- Contestants applications are now being accepted for the 2006 Miss Central Pennsylvania Scholarship Pageant. The pageant will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2005 in the Lewistown Area High School in Lewistown and again this year two titleholders, Miss Central Pennsylvania and Miss Greater Juniata Valley, will be selected. To be eligible to compete in the pageant, young women must be unmarried and between the ages of 17 and 24 and reside, attend school or be employed in Pennsylvania.

The Miss Central Pennsylvania Pageant is a preliminary to the Miss Pennsylvania Pageant to be held in the summer of 2006 in Nazareth and to the Miss America Pageant. Last year over $3000 in scholarships, prizes and awards was given to Shannon Doyle, Miss Central Pennsylvania 2005, Mary Kaye Jacono, Miss Greater Juniata Valley 2005, and their runner-ups in the Miss Central Pennsylvania Pageant. Both titleholders also won additional scholarship money as participants in the Miss Pennsylvania Pageant in July where both contestants finished among the “Top 10” finalists and where the title of Miss Pennsylvania was won by Nicole Brewer, Miss Central Pennsylvania 2004.

Contestants in the pageant are judged in talent, interview, evening wear, casual wear, on-stage questions and swimsuit. There is no entry fee or sponsorship required for entry into the pageant.  Entry deadline is October 1 and a mandatory orientation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 9 at the Burnham Lions Community Building. Since only 22 contestants will be accepted for entry into the pageant, those 22 contestants whose application materials are received first will be guaranteed entry into the pageant with those whose materials are received later being put on a “waiting list.”

The pageant is sponsored by the not-for-profit Miss Central Pennsylvania Scholarship Organization. Scholarships and prizes are awarded through the generosity of businesses and organizations throughout the area.  Information and applications are available by phoning (717) 248-7396 in Lewistown, (717) 612-1912 in Harrisburg, (814) 695-4170 in Hollidaysburg or executive director John R. Metzger at (717) 248-5576. Information and application materials are also available on the internet by going to the Miss Central Pennsylvania Scholarship Pageant website at http://www.MissCentralPA.org.
